Pierre Imans & IFM: A Partnership of Excellence in the Service of Creation
Artisanal excellence and educational innovation converge in the exclusive partnership between Pierre Imans and the Institut Français de la Mode (IFM). This collaboration, initiated in response to IFM’s desire to provide its students with tools perfectly aligned with their contemporary vision of clothing, has led to the creation of a range of custom-made busts and mannequins.
The Institut Français de la Mode: A Center of Excellence at the Heart of the Industry
The Institut Français de la Mode is an international reference in fashion, luxury, design, and innovation education and research. Based in Paris, within the Cité de la Mode et du Design, IFM offers programs ranging from Bachelor’s to Doctorate degrees, including executive programs for industry professionals. Through a multidisciplinary approach combining creativity, strategic vision, and technical expertise, IFM trains the talents of tomorrow and supports the transformation of the fashion industry.

Aurélie Vibet: A Reference in Pattern-Making
At the heart of this collaboration, Aurélie Vibet plays a key role. She is the Director of Pedagogy for the Bachelor’s in Fashion Pattern-Making (BMC), as well as a professor and a reference in pattern-making. A graduate in pattern-making from the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, she worked for ten years as a highly qualified première main in the haute couture tailoring workshop at Christian Dior under the direction of John Galliano.
Since 2011, she has been passing on her expertise by teaching pattern-making at the Institut Français de la Mode, formerly the École de la Chambre Syndicale. In parallel, she is also a partner in a company where she provides online draping courses, sharing her expertise with a broad audience of emerging designers.
A Collaboration at the Heart of the Creative Process
At the outset, the IFM team visited the Pierre Imans workshops to exchange ideas with our teams. This immersion allowed for a precise understanding of the technical and ergonomic requirements essential for training the designers of tomorrow.
Following this phase of observation and research, we developed a series of prototypes adhering to the specific measurements required, while also focusing on refining the pattern-making of the covers for busts and mannequins. Each product was designed to reflect IFM’s standards and aspirations in terms of silhouette and garment structure.
A Range Tailored to IFM’s Requirements:
The outcome of this collaboration is a selection of high-precision products designed to support students in their pursuit of technical and creative excellence:
Female bust size 38
Female full body size 38
Male bust size 48
Male full body size 48
Female half 38 bust
The latest innovation in the range, this ergonomic tool optimizes workspace and provides an initial approach to design without excessive material consumption.
A Dedicated Platform for Students
Recognizing the importance of easy access to high-quality equipment, Pierre Imans and IFM management have jointly launched an exclusive e-shop platform reserved for IFM students. Through this initiative, students can now acquire professional busts at a preferential rate, ensuring optimal learning conditions.
This collaboration perfectly illustrates the synergy between exceptional craftsmanship and fashion education, providing future designers with tools tailored to their training and vision of clothing. By combining traditional expertise with innovation, Pierre Imans and IFM reaffirm their shared commitment to excellence in education, focused on the future of creation.
